One of the greatest ways of seeing Alaska and experiencing its fishing locations, rural settlements, and nearly anywhere else you wish to go is to board a prop plane and book a flight to Alaska. Within Alaska, trains and buses are also available, but they are pricier than airplanes. Various airline carriers offer flights to Anchorage, from where passengers can book tickets to other regions of Alaska. Not everyone has to be ambitious or adventurous to get Alaska tickets.

Anchorage serves as the finest regional hub for transportation in the state's southern reaches, particularly for outposts and settlements in western Alaska, the Gulf of Alaska, as well as the Aleutian Chain. Merrill Field and Lake Hood are served by a number of smaller airways and air carriers. Within their areas of jurisdiction, Fairbanks and Juneau function as more outright travel hubs.
