So as per the new policy of United Airline you can cancel their Basic Economy tickets for a fee and eligible for a full credit inside 24 hours of booking as long as you completed your purchase one week prior and re-book a flight rather than just lose all the funds.
United Airlines Changes Policy for EconomyTravellers who book an economy ticket it’s changeable fare and change fee is $200.00 USD plus the fare difference for economy, Economy Plus but there is no change fee for first, business and United Premium Plus fares. Business Select®/Anytime tickets are refundable You can choose to either a) receive a method-of-payment refund or b) hold the value of the ticket as a flight credit that you can use to buy a future flight.
Wanna Get Away® and Wanna Get Away Plus™ tickets are non-refundable. The value of the ticket will be converted to a flight credit that you can use to buy a future flight.
CHANGES OR CANCELLATIONSouthwest never charge fees to change or cancel your flights. If you cancel your flight the credit will be offer for the same amount the customer has paid and same will be available for next 365 days.
You may be asked to pay a difference in fare if the new flight costs more than your original itinerary.
If your new flight costs less, southwest will refund the difference to the original form of payment (if applicable) or the difference will be held for future use in the form of a flight credit (which doesn’t expire*) for the originally ticketed Passenger(s).
